Spiderman Hello Kitty Birthday Invitations
Spidey-Kitty Ticket Stub Invitation Tutorial & Free Download below. Lil' B is turning 4 in January and I've gone a little overboard on planning her birthday party. As a second child I haven't really given her a BIG party and I really want to make it special for her. The past 2 years we've celebrated with friends at a restaurant and her first birthday was at the house. She has decided on a Hello Kitty birthday party but I decided to tweak it a bit - she also likes Spiderman! Yes, she's a girlie girl with a touch of tomboy. I absolutely love it. My party planning began on Pinterest and I found some really fun ideas for birthday invitations; ticket stubs. Then while searching for some t-shirts on Etsy I found Spidey Kitty!! I knew right away I wanted to make the theme of her party Spidey Kitty! I'm not a pro at graphic design but I do tinker a bit (ok - I tinker a LOT but that doesn't mean I'm good at it). I really wanted to make her invitations myself and I want ... [ Read More ]

How to Make an Apron Knot Dress
GIVEAWAY ALERT: You can win a copy of this pattern (in PDF format) to make your own Apron Knot Dress. Details at the end of the post. I'm feeling the urge to pull my sewing machine back out of the closet. I had hoped to get it out this past weekend to make Lil' B a new dress for Valentine's Day but that just didn't happen - yet! I received a PDF pattern for the adorable Apron Knot Dress that you see in the picture to the left and I can't wait to see how it looks on my tot. She loves wearing dresses and this pattern doesn't look like it's going to be too difficult. The pattern is really easy to read and doesn't require any challenging sewing skills. The only part that scares me are the 2 button holes where the knots go - but I'm sure I'll be able to figure this out. The fabric: A few weeks ago my husband cleaned out his closet and packed up 3 full bags of old clothes to donate. I snagged a few of my favorite prints and patterns so that I can repurpose them into this ... [ Read More ]

Eco-Crafting Tutorial: How to Make a Wreath Using a Queen Sz. Sheet
Eco-Crafting Tutorial: How to Make a Wreath Using a Queen Size Sheet Supplies: One wire wreath form (or any wreath form), one queen size sheet, one pair of scissors Time: 1-2 hrs for a large wreath You can reuse or upcycle with any fabric. I found the perfect color sheet at the local thrift store to match the color of my little girls room for only $3.00. There weren't any stains on it but even if there were some minor staining you could still use it for this project. Solids or prints, both would work fine. If I had found a chocolate brown and ivory sheet that day I would probably have used all 3 and alternated the colors in the wreath. You can also use fabric scraps from old t-shirts or any fabric remnants that you have. Just be sure you have a LOT of scraps. I used the entire queen size sheet for a large wreath form. Total cost: Less than $5.00 Directions: -Cut the fabric into equal sized strips. Our strips were approximately 1-1.5" wide and 6-9" long. Be sure to cut ... [ Read More ]
