Sponsored by Airheads Trampoline Arena - Tampa & St Pete. My daughter loves watching Stampy Cat on YouTube. He is her favorite Minecraft character and of course this is the theme she requested for her birthday party. The only problem is there aren't any Stampy Cat birthday supplies. Thank goodness she has a crafty (and crazy) mom who likes a little DIY challenge to make this happen. Our crafting began with Perler Beads (affiliate link) from our local Michael's craft store. She's played with them in school and at the library but I've never personally used them before. A big bucket of mixed colors is under $15 and we spent less than $20 for all the materials needed to make some Minecraft tools for the goodie bags. To create the patterns for the tools we opened Minecraft and took some screenshots of the tools. From there I followed the pixel pattern to create diamond pickaxes, hoes, and swords. Using the Perler Beads was pretty simple and the entire family enjoyed adding ... [ Read More ]
How to Attend a Google+ Chat / Hangout On Air
Google+ is one social media outlet that needs a little explaining. I'm not sure why Google thinks these things need to be complicated. Regardless of how complicated Google+ may seem, there are some really cool features if you have patience to learn how to use them. Google+ Chats (or Hangouts On Air) are a fun way for you to interact with bloggers, brands, and friends live on air. The first thing you'll need to do is set up a Google account if you don't already have one. Most of us have one connected to Gmail, YouTube, or other Google owned application. Once you have a Google account you can set up your Google+ profile. It's very similar to setting up a Twitter or Facebook profile and you can decide what information to share. If you're using your mobile device or tablet you may need to download the Google+ app first. Next you'll need to RSVP or confirm that you'll be attending (or watching) a specific chat or hangout. For the reference of this post we'll be using the ... [ Read More ]

Join Beth Terry on The Motherhood June 18
Beth Terry's book Plastic-Free: How I Kicked the Plastic Habit and How You Can Too finally released this week and I couldn't be more excited for her. Beth has worked very hard over the past several years documenting her efforts to live without plastic in her life. When Beth approached me about being interviewed in her book I didn't feel worthy since my own life is not plastic-free, but I do know a lot about cloth diapers and that's what she wanted to talk to me about. We spent over an hour on the Skype as I gave her the complete breakdown on cloth diapers - even showing her some of my favorites and how they worked. I'm so honored to have my own little section in the book that will reach thousands of families who want to live a more sustainable life. To kick off the launch of the book, Beth has been invited to join The Motherhood for a Book Party today, June 18th. Join us to talk about Beth's new book and living plastic-free. Get personal solutions and tips on limiting your ... [ Read More ]
Diapering Today – the Video Review
What type of learner are you? Do you learn things best by reading them? Or are you an auditory or visual learner? I actually learn best by watching videos and seeing pictures (or touching the real product). That is one reason that cloth diapering can be so intimidating to many parents. While some brick and mortar stores exist most of us learn about cloth diapering online and shop online. It's very challenging to learn about the different diapers and how to actually use them until you get them in your hands. Nevermind all the crazy terminology and techniques that come along with it. Enter The Willow Store and Catherine Bolden. Her and her family decided that they would create an instructional video, Diapering Today, that would help parents understand cloth diapering from a real parents perspective. They used local cloth diapering parents (young and old) to share their personal experiences as if they were sitting in the room with you. You almost get the feel that by the end ... [ Read More ]

Changing Diapers – A Twitter Party with Kelly Wels
I am so excited to be hosting the #ChangingDiapers Twitter Party that is taking place Tuesday, June 7th at 9:00pm ET on Twitter. Cloth diaper expert (and a personal friend of mine) Kelly Wels is launching her new book, Changing Diapers, The Hip Mom’s Guide to Modern Cloth Diapering (available for pre-order now) with a big party and lots of baby prizes including cloth diapers, baby related products, and breastfeeding resources. The book promotes the convenience of cloth diapering while discussing every aspect of modern cloth diapering. Topics discussed in the book include; Why Choose Cloth Diapers?, How to Wash Your Cloth Diapers and even a chapter that discusses Daddies and Diapers. “As the depressed state of the economy butts up against the ecological green movement, more eco-friendly and cost-conscious moms tend to be looking at cloth diapers as a way to save money and the environment.” Says Wels. “Modern cloth diapers are really him, functional, and work just as well as, if ...
