Eco-Friendly Holiday Cards and Invitations with Paper Culture
You may remember a few weeks ago that I shared our holiday photo outtakes. I waited too late last year and didn't get our holiday cards out until New Years. This year I am WAY ahead of the game and I already have them in hand and ready to send. This year I ordered our holiday cards from Paper Culture. I love using Paper Culture since they are a very green and eco-friendly company. 100% of their cards and envelopes are printed on post-consumer recycled paper and they plant a tree in your honor with every order. Even their packaging is recycled. Recycled doesn't mean cheap though - the card stock that Paper Culture uses is thicker than what you can find at their competitors (130lb paper). In addition to holiday cards Paper Culture also has invitations, announcements, stationary, and bamboo wall art. Most of their products have the option to add your own photos to create a truly unique and personalized experience. One of the best features of Paper Culture is their Mail ... [ Read More ]

5 Tips for Greening Your Kitchen
How "green" is your kitchen? Do you still have a roll of paper towels sitting on the counter? How eco-friendly are those cleaning products? Transitioning your kitchen to be more eco-friendly is actually one of the easiest places you can "green" in your home. 5 Tips for Greening Your Kitchen People Towels - these organic cotton clothes are a great alternative for paper towels. They are small enough to clean up small messes but thirsty enough to soak up toddler spills. They come in cute prints and can even be used as napkins. My daughter loves the "Wise Owl" print from the Protect Earth set. SKOY Cloths - another paper towel alternative, SKOY are more absorbent like sponges. They are made from natural cotton and cellulose pulp and can be used over and over again. When soiled they can be tossed in the washing machine or dishwasher to clean. Once they are too soiled to clean they will biodegrade in about 5 weeks in a functioning compost bin. Natural Cleaners ... [ Read More ]
Eco-Friendly Halloween Tips
Have you joined the Switch "BOO" to NEW Challenge by THinc. Skin yet? THinc Skin (home of Balm Baby) is once again asking you to switch out 2 plastic items that you use for Halloween (Boo) for a more eco-friendly options. Tips for making your Halloween more eco-friendly: Instead of the disposable trick-or-treat bags opt for a reusable container (preferably one that isn't made of cheap plastic). My parents always gave us a pillow case to decorate for Halloween. Not only was it a little more eco-friendly it held a LOT more candy! Say no to cheap Halloween costumes. Many of the Halloween costumes that you find are so poorly made that they rip or tear after the first time your kids put them on. Be sure to check your local thrift stores for second hand costumes or get crafty and make your kids costumes. Ditch the disposable decorations. When shopping for decorations choose the ones that will last for years to come and not those "disposable" items that will end up in the ... [ Read More ]
RSVP for #MyGreenBaby Twitter Party – 9/27
When: Thursday, September 27th (9/27/12) Time: 9-10pm ET Hashtag: #MyGreenBaby Hosts: @TheEcoChic and @EFFBlog Sponsors: @SacredPregnancy, @ProjectPomona, @GreenTeamDist, @DolphinOrganics, @EarthMamaHQ, @WildOrchidBaby, @TushieTies, and perhaps a few more! Need some tips on how to use TweetChat or TweetGrid for Twitter Parties? Note: Twitter has decreased the API to outside applications (like TweetChat and TweetGrid) which means you may find yourself in Twitter Jail quicker than usual. If this happens during a party you won’t be able to use your account for about an hour (or more). If this happens to me be sure to follow @EcoChicParties (my backup acct). How to avoid Twitter Jail? If you use Twitter without an external application your API is larger allowing you to Tweet longer. To do that put in #mygreenbaby in the search bar and keep refreshing your page. Not nearly as easy but it’s always an option. Prizes: Lots of eco-friendly baby, toddler ... [ Read More ]
