If you are a cloth diapering family or just want something fun to hang in your laundry room I've created a fun new print. I've always been an artist but haven't done much with my art since before my kids were born. A few years ago I began dabbling in different arts and crafts again trying to get my creative juices flowing again. I've spent a lot of energy on my painted rocks over the past few years but I have a fun new creative medium!! My ipad Pro, Procreate app and Apple Pencil!! I've never been trained in graphic design or created digital designs before and have been teaching myself how to do this. With the Apple Pencil I (almost) feel like I'm doodling away in my favorite sketch book. I have a lot more to learn and have a lot of fun ideas and goals for this year. For starters, this print is available for purchase on Etsy for you to download and print at home! It's an 8.5" x 11" PDF file that you can hang in your laundry room. I know everyone's wash routine varies but this is ... [ Read More ]

Parenting Isn’t Always Easy, Neither is Marriage
Sponsored post. Tonight I'm wiping up the tears and putting on my game face for the next seven weeks. Last week my husband got a job offer that will require him to be out of town for the next seven weeks to train for the new position; leaving me to hold down the fort at home. I'd like to say that I'm excited about this new job, but in reality I'm scared. His new job will require him to travel...a lot! Earlier in our marriage, I was the one who had to travel upwards of 60 days out of the year. I look back at those years and wonder how it was so easy for him. I don't ever remember him complaining that I had to leave, or worrying about getting our toddler off to school AND make it to work on time. He just....managed. Part of me really enjoyed traveling and getting to see new parts of the country; but the reality was I spent most of my time alone in airports and hotels. Right now we share most of the joys of parenting. He's able to help get the kids to and from ... [ Read More ]
Techie Gift Gear Ideas
If you are anything like me, this is the week you scramble trying to find just the right gift for everyone on your list. I do most of my shopping online so this is THE week to get stuff ordered so it will arrive in time. Here are just a few of my favorite techie finds this year that may or may not be found under the tree on Christmas morning. Powerslayer by Velvetwire: Can you ever have too many iPhone chargers laying around? In a house full of techies we're always fighting over the cords and you can never find them all when you need them. With my old iPhone 5, I would constantly need to charge it because the battery was shot. With the Powerslayer you eliminate wasted power because it automatically turns itself off once your device is fully charged. Once my phone reached about 90-95% the Powerslayer would shut off; you could tell when the LED indicator on the front shut off. The Powerslayer comes with a very long braided USB cable and a felt and leather travel case. I loved ... [ Read More ]
How to Bake the PERFECT Christmas Cookie
I'm FINALLY in the Christmas spirit and in the mood to bake a few batches of our favorite cookies. We don't bake much the rest of the year, but I always find time to bake cookies with the kids in December. You probably won't stumble upon my recipes pinned on Pinterest or on the pages of a magazine, but I make the PERFECT Christmas Cookies!! Do you want to know my secret? First, go to the baking aisle of your favorite store and pick up a few packs of morsels that look good to you. I couldn't find our favorite mint chocolate chips from last year, but I did find some red & green morsels and a pack of toffee chips. At least that will make up some good chocolate chip cookies, right!? Next, think really hard about what other key ingredients may be missing from your kitchen. I know I needed eggs and I thought I was out of stick butter so I chunked those in our cart. I can't possible think of anything else that I'm out of so we head to the checkout. After dinner is over and ... [ Read More ]
Sleepover Survival Tips For Parents
...and when I say parents, I really mean you - mom! At 11 years old my son has only had about 3-4 sleepovers and they've all been at our house. I'm starting to wonder if sleepovers are still a "thing" that kids do. Regardless, this past weekend my son convinced me that he should invite 2 of his good friends over for a sleepover. It gets better... ...he also invited the 5 year old sister of one of the boys to have a sleepover with my 5 year old daughter (they go to school together also). That's right, my son convinced me that having 5 kids in my house this weekend was a good idea! Did I mention that I decided to go buy a car on the same day as the sleepover? With 2 kids? By myself? Um, yeah.... After visiting 3 car dealerships with 2 bored kids and signing the papers to my brand new Jeep Cherokee, I rushed home to a messy house to welcome 3 additional kids over for the night. I must have still been on my "new car" high because I welcomed these kids with a huge smile ... [ Read More ]
The Perfect Mother’s Day
What would the perfect Mother's Day look like to you? Would it be a vase full of flowers? Breakfast in bed? A handmade gift from your child? An hour to yourself without your kids clawing at your legs? A day out with friends at the spa? Things have changed a lot over the past 11 years of being a mom and so has my "perfect Mother's Day!" For me, a perfect Mother's Day would be one where I am unplugged from the online world and soaking up every moment I can with my family. I don't care about the gifts or going out to eat, those aren't the things you remember very long. I care about the memories that I can make with my kids. I started Mother's Day weekend a little early with a night out to the movies with some friends. Tonight was the opening of the new movie, Mom's Night Out. It's a movie about a young mom of three small kids who is "stress paralyzed!" Yes, that's really a word...at least in the movie! While I may not have the same life as the main character, Allyson ... Can your kids be friends?
Do your kids fight? Do they argue over the silliest things? Do they drive you insane with their petty jealousy? Maybe it's time for a family vacation! My kids are almost 6 years apart in age so the sibling dynamics are much different than me and my brother. My brother and I are only 18mo apart and most people confused us as twins when we were little. My brother was my best friend growing up. That was before the age of computers, iPads and cell phones when we actually went outside and played with our neighborhood friends. We didn't always get along, I guess that's part of being siblings. I remember being downright mean to my brother; I'll spare you the details because I'm sure you have your own memories if you had a sibling. My kids are no different. They fight over who gets to sit next to me at dinner. They argue over who gets to pick the show on TV. They cry when the other gets "their" way! But when it really matters, they show their love for each other. While on our ... [ Read More ]

Lassig: Best Diaper Bag for Cloth Diapers
One of the most frequently asked questions I get from other cloth diapering mom's is, "What diaper bag do you use with your cloth diapers?" Cloth diapers do take up a little more room in your bag compared to disposable diapers. I remember with my first child, I would stuff 10-12 disposable diapers in the bag and just leave them there. Every few days I would have to add more, but I never worried about having enough diapers even if I used a smaller diaper bag. I'm also not a big fan of bags, especially diaper bags. When they were babies, I had Target, Walart, and Babies"R"Us to shop at and they didn't have anything cute back then. I ended up using a tote bag for both of my kids because I just couldn't see myself carrying a Winne the Pooh bag around with me all day. Wow, how things have changed since then. I'm sure cute bags were around then, but I never found them. Let me introduce you to the Lassig Tender Multipocket diaper bag. Lassig is a company from Germany who's goal is ... [ Read More ]
My Date With a 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco
A few weeks ago we had the privileged of borrowing a brand new 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco for a week. If you follow The Eco Chic on Instagram you got a sneak peek inside the Malibu and the adventures we went on. The Malibu got to tag along as I drove the kids to school, karate, the library, the grocery store and all the other fun places we visit each week. I've personally never had a brand spanking new car of my own (all of mine have been about 1-2 yrs old upon purchase) so being spoiled with a fully loaded brand new (only 400 miles when I got it) car was a real treat. Anyone else like that "new car" smell? I'm currently driving a 2005 Honda Accord so I was completely impressed with all the technological advances in the Malibu. Keyless entry wasn't anything new but the push-to-start was a nice surprise. As a parent I think my favorite feature is the rear vision camera so that I could see everything that my mirrors might miss - like small toys, bikes, or children. It was ... [ Read More ]
