Hello friends and thank you for checking out my website.
PR and Media Requests: I really don’t do sponsored content any longer, but for the right product or service I might change my mind. I don’t do anything for free, so if you don’t have a budget please don’t pitch me. Email me at calleypate@gmail.com
For my visitors, friends, and family:
I’m Calley and I’m the owner and creator of Back to Calley and the Back to Calley Creative Collection; my new personal shop. I first started blogging here under the name “The Eco Chic” back in 2007. When I started this website my adult child was a baby and my youngest wasn’t even born yet. My cloth diapering, baby wearing, and little kid days are long behind me. Yes, the saying is all too true, don’t blink because it truly goes by so quickly. Within the pages of this blog you’ll find some really old content that I just can’t part with. Some of it is still valuable today, while some of it may be slightly out of date. You’ll find recipes, crafts, photography, and travel information filling the pages. I don’t think I’ve consistently added content since 2021 (do people still blog?) but that doesn’t mean I’m not creating.
My creative life:
Now that my kids are older I’ve spent my evenings and weekends being creative. My creative style is a little chaotic and I love to learn new things. Over the many years of this blog I’ve learned how to use DSLR camera, which is now broken and collecting dust in my closet. I’ve mastered my Silhouette Cameo vinyl cutter, which I’ve recently dusted off to create some of the fun things you’ll find in my shop. I’ve taught myself how to knit, crochet, and cross stitch. Several years ago I created the Original Painted Rock Challenge that you can still use today. I’ve learned how to create digital art using an iPad Pro with Procreate and Apple Pencil. I enjoy watercolor, drawing, painting, and really – anything creative – but I can’t stick to just one media. I jump back and forth creating nice things to give as gifts and decided to create a small shop here so you can enjoy these nice things too.
When I’m not working we enjoy traveling, playing at the beach, boating, and sports. I dedicate way too much time to my Girl Scout Troop and volunteer as a leader and Service Unit Manager for my daughters troop of middle and high school girls.
My passion growing up was the arts and the ocean. After my initial pursuit in graphic design I decided to switch my career path to Biology. I have a degree in Biology with a focus on aquatic ecosystems. My professional life has opened the environmental world for me. I am once again working for a company as an environmental contractor for a government agency. My job function was to implement and manage their environmental program and continually look for ways to improve and reduce their environmental footprint that they leave on this nation. I have job experience in Hazardous Materials, Waste Prevention and Recycling, Green Purchasing, Energy Management, Water Management, Electronics Stewardship, Alternative Fuels, Environmental Management, Regulatory Compliance, Facilities Auditing, Training, and Outreach & Education. Pretty much an eco-junkie!
