fantastic anti-plastic dishes by zoë b I'm a big fan of the zoe b company and their anti-plastic line of BPA-free products made from corn. We love their anti-plastic beach toys and now we have matching anti-plastic dishes! Lil' B has the most fashionable plates in the cabinet with the turquoise and lime palette. We've had our dishes set for several months now and both of my kids fight over who gets to use this set. I guess that means I need to order a second set so the battles can cease! I've even found my hubs pulling out the bowl for his morning cereal. What makes these dishes so special? They are BPA-free, dishwasher safe, and made from corn! This makes these products eco-friendly and safe for the entire family. Oh, and guess what? They are made in the USA! Curious to hear more? Watch this adorable video featuring zoe - the inspiration behind zoe b organic as she tells us a little more about the fantastic anti-plastic dishes. Where ... [ Read More ]

Zoe b Organics & Kidishes
First watch this - Pretty impressive isn't it! In a world where we live and breath all things plastic it's nice to see products like Kidishes. If you are like me you often cringe when you pull out that plastic bowl that you bought at Wally World to warm up your child's next meal - is it 'really' BPA-free? Are there any other toxins we don't know about yet? How many barrells of oil were used to make this plastic bowl? *Yes - these are all real thoughts that go through my head when I look in my cabinets. Kidishes have actually been around for ages - back before I was born actually - by a company out of France called Duralex. They've mastered the kid-friendly tempered glass plates and bowls and as the story is told over at Zoe b Organics, Duralex is found in all the schools in France. How did we ever get away from using sustainable, reusable, safe, non-breakable tempered glass? I was introduced to Zoe b Organics at the Green Blogger Soiree during my BlogHer trip (Who ... Tips for Visiting the Beach With Kids
Even before we moved to Florida our family has always taken vacations to the beach. Both of my kids had their toes dipped into the Gulf of Mexico before they turned 6 months. Regardless of how old your baby or child is there are a few things to keep in mind to make your trip stress-free and fun. Simplify What do you really need to take with you to the beach? Chances are that you and your spouse are the only ones who are going to be toting towels, sunscreen, toys, chairs, snacks, drinks, and yes...even the kids from the car to the beach. Think about everything you take and if you are "really" going to use it. Sun Protection Sunscreen isn't the only form of sun protection that you want to remember. UV shirts and hats can provide safe (chemical-free) protection from the sun and are safer than sunscreen for your wee ones. Most sunscreens aren't recommended until your baby is about 6 months of age. Tents and umbrellas can also provide a shady place for your baby to play. ... [ Read More ]
Switch 2 in 2 Challenge with “THE” Balm!
Take just a minute and look around your room. How many things do you see that are made of plastic? I'm looking around my office and here are just a few things that I see: plastic reusable cup (with a crack in it), lotion bottle, phone, computer mouse, pen, spool of thread, pill bottle, plastic reusable kitchen container, desk sorters, my daughters barrette, and that's just what's on my desk. Did you know that plastic does NOT breakdown and go away - EVER!!! This past weekend I took my kids to the beach. It was an unusually windy day (a storm was coming) and the trash cans couldn't keep the trash contained inside them. Combined with the people who think it's ok to leave their plastic bottles in the sand this is what I saw while my kids were swinging on the swing. In the short walk back to the car I picked up about 6 bottles and several broken pieces of unknown plastic. They were probably part of a bucket or shovel. I also picked up a lid from a coffee cup and a few cigarette ... [ Read More ]
(Almost) Wordless Wednesday
One of these things is not like the other, one of these things does not belong! Living by the beach my trunk is full of beach toys of all sizes and types. When we visit the beach there are always a scattering of buckets and shovels that have been left by the loving family who brought them to the beach. What happens to those petroleum filled toxic plastic beach toys? There are no cleaning crews at the beach when we leave - no ocean fairies that clean up our trash! The tide rolls in and carries away these plastic items out into the ocean where they can travel for years. Where they end up nobody really knows. If you'd like to know more about living a plastic free life please visit my friend and fellow blogger Beth Terry at her blog, My Plastic-Free Life. The turquoise and green beach toys above are by Zoe B Organic. They are biodegradable, free of BPA's, phthalates, and PVC. Each beach toy set contains a bucket with built in handles, a sifting lid (very cool), 2 cups and 1 ... [ Read More ]
