Your social media accounts speak for your brand – does it look like your brand? These tips can apply to influencers or any brand or business with a social media account. These tips work on any social media platform – Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, and Twitter.
Branding your brand starts with your website and your logo. Many of us spend a lot of time making our website look beautiful and our social media accounts should mirror the look and feel of your website.
Versatile Logo – Is your logo versatile? Will it work on all of your different platforms? You’ll likely need several different sizes and orientations of your logo. You may even need it with a transparent background. If you’re working with a professional designer they will be able to guide you to creating these different versions. If you are starting small and creating your own branding and logo you can use websites like Canva or PicMonkey to look professional and high quality. These websites can give you sizing help since the sizes often change as platforms evolve.

Fonts – Do you have a branded set of fonts? Brands typically have one primary font and 1-2 secondary fonts. Websites like Canva and PicMonkey have a variety of free fonts that everyone can use and there are websites that you can purchase or download for free. Stick with your fonts and be consistent.

Colors – Do you have your own branded colors on your website? Whenever you make graphics for social media you should stick with your primary colors. These graphics can include Instagram highlights, YouTube cover photos, Etsy shop graphics, or any custom sections on your social platforms. There’s no limit to the number of colors you can use, some brands stick to 2-3 colors while other brands have 10+ colors.

GIF Stickers – Some social media platforms allow you to use GIF stickers. These are those static or animated illustrations or words that you see used on Instagram and Snapchat. Did you know that you can make your own branded GIF stickers? The GIPHY website has a sticker maker for some basic stickers. If you have access to an iPad and apps like Procreate you can create a GIF on there. I have a GIPHY artist channel with some examples of GIFs that I’ve made for myself and other brands. You can search for my favorite GIFs by searching ‘backtocalley‘ or “btcsocial” on IG and Snapchat. Below is my most recent set that I created for myself. Some of these are static (not moving) and some of them are animated (or moving). I can make you a custom set today by visiting the Back to Calley Etsy Shop. Brand Guide – As a good practice you should create a brand guide that includes all of your logos, fonts, and color palettes. A brand guide may also include certain language or terminology that is specific for your brand. If you’re a company that works with influencers, your brand guide may also include things that are NOT allowed when referencing your brand on social media.
