Hint: There is no wrong answer here! You ARE enough and we can all make changes in our lives to be a little more green.

About a week ago I received a book from a friend and fellow blogger, Leah Segedie. The book, Green Enough, will be available on Amazon starting March 20th. You can preorder it now! To shop my Amazon Affiliate Link: http://amzn.to/2HOCmAG  Green Enough is available in hardcover and on Kindle.

Green Enough by Leah Segedie, a book review

…before you start rolling your eyes, I need to confess something. I am NOT the super “eco chic” that many of my followers once considered me to be.

Way back in the days when I first started this blog it went by a different name, The Eco Chic. A few years ago I was struggling with identifying with that title any longer because I felt like I was more than just someone who wanted to write about eco-friendly living. I also realized that there was so much more to being a green influencer/blogger than recycling, cloth diapers and menstrual cups. Several years ago, the green blogging movement made a huge shift to taking on the food and packaging industry. While I still felt a connection to the tribe, I wasn’t AS passionate about the food industry as they were (at least not enough for it to be the main focus of my writing). I didn’t think I was “Green Enough,” despite what my friends and family thought about me.

I continued to write about things in my life and things that excited me; sometimes even eco-friendly things (like prAna and Stonyfield….a few of my favorite sponsors). You see, being “green enough” takes on many different shades of green…I’ve always known that. I just wasn’t going to be the one to write the book about it.

Thankfully Leah Segedie, the blogger behind the Mamavation community, decided to make this book (Green Enough) (affiliate link) her passion!! I’ve know she’s been working on a book for a few years and I’ve followed her studies and findings. The things she’s uncovered for parents are huge!! She’s made a few enemies along the way (Monsanto for example), but her passion is making changes that benefit all of us. Her passion and drive are making it safer for us to shop the grocery store aisle and feed our families.

…but there is a long battle still ahead of us all. One that will require some political changes.

…for those of you who are willing to be that activist and fight for these changes, I commend you!! I will rally behind you and support you. I just don’t have the energy (or the time) to be the one in the forefront fighting the battle.

…kinda like many of you reading this, I’m a mom with a million things on my to-do list that never get done! A to-do list which is always growing. My kids are active in their schools, I’m volunteering in their schools, they are active after school, playing sports, in clubs…..oh, and I have a full time job!

Why should YOU read Green Enough?

It’s full of some shocking truths about our current food supply that are contributing to ADHD, autism, food allergies, and cancer! Leah talks about the science behind the toxins that are lurking in our foods. She talks about GMOs, growth hormones, and dangerous pathogens that are in our foods. She talks about why we should care about the organic food industry and what’s hiding in the packaging of our foods.

….but don’t freak the f*ck out just yet. She gives us all practical and easy to understand advice and tips on how to get started eating better, living cleaning, and being happier (without driving our family crazy along the way).

She starts with the food, but that’s not all she talks about in her book. She also includes a room by room guide on how to detoxify those areas. She includes an entire chapter on how to make your daily grooming a little more green. These of course are the easier things in our lives to tackle (for me at least).

I won’t give away all the secrets, but change can happen when we start talking with our wallets! As parents (most of you are moms/wifes/etc) we are the primary shoppers in our house and we can demand changes in our favorite products. You already see some of these changes on the grocery shelf and we will continue to see more! Big brands will make changes when their customers start shopping for products and brands that listen to their concerns.

Still not sure if Green Enough is for you? Join the #GreenEnough Twitter Launch Party, Tuesday, March 20th at 9pm EDT (6pm PDT). It’s really easy to join, just login and follow the #GreenEnough hashtag. There are even prizes for the participants!! You can learn more about the party on Facebook (Green Enough RSVP Event) and on the Mamavation blog. I’ll be there as a panelist so be sure to follow me on Twitter at @BackToCalley. Warning: Twitter parties are still fun and addicting!!!
