The Valspar Championship returns to Palm Harbor, March 7-13th, 2016 at Innisbrook Resort and Spa.
It’s almost spring again in Florida and I’m ready for golf to return with the Valspar Championship PGA Tournament. Innisbrook has groomed their golf courses over the last 11 months and the greens are ready for the players to return for another challenging round of golf. Defending champion Jordan Spieth is scheduled to return this year after his amazing 2015 year. 2015 started with a win at the Valspar Championship and ended with a win at the 2015 Masters Tournament. Other golfers scheduled to play at this year’s Valspar Championship include Brandt Snedeker, Luke Donald, and Patrick Reed.
The tournament kicks off Thursday, March 10th with the opening round play. One day tickets start at only $39+ per person and kids 15 and under are free with a paying adult. If you attend the opening day of the tournament, you’ll be able to enjoy the Valspar Live concert with Rascal Flatts for free after golf is done for the day. This is the second year of the Valspar Live concert series that is held at Innisbrook on the putting range. The concert was a great event for the family and a fun way to end the day. Did I mention it was FREE with your tournament ticket for the day?
The 2015 tournament generated nearly $1.8 million dollars for charities, with most of the money staying right here in Tampa Bay. The tournament supports Habitat for Humanity, All Children’s Hospital, The First Tee, and Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation (among many others).
Our family has been attending the tournament since we moved to the area and it’s an event we look forward to each year. The Valspar Championship is a family friendly event and there are activities for children of all ages. The younger kids will love the Jabil Family Fun Zone presented by Publix where they can play games and win prizes. The Fan Expo area is another fun place for kids to practice their putting and maybe even take home a few prizes from some of the sponsors. The golf course is beautiful and our kids enjoyed walking from hole to hole following their favorite golfers. Be sure to hang around the exit of each hole and the golfers may give the kids a ball or two.
The Family Ticket Pack is $99 and includes admission for two adults (kids under 15 are free) and four concession vouchers for hot dogs, chips, and sodas PLUS a parking pass. If you go on Thursday, this will also include the concert with Rascal Flatts.
