Open enrollment for Florida Prepaid plans ends Feb 29th to start saving for your child’s future. Use promotional code BLOG1516, Florida Prepaid will send you a free gift just for signing up.

Florida PrepaidThis post is sponsored by the Florida Prepaid College Board, through my role as a Believer Blogger.

What are you waiting for? Did you get busy and forget to enroll? Are you scared about the future? What if your child decides not to go to college? What if you move out of the Florida? What if my child goes to college in a different state?

We procrastinated for YEARS before we finally took the time to enroll our kids in the Florida Prepaid program and I could kick myself for not taking the time to get started sooner. Nothing was holding us back, we just got too busy and failed to sign up. However, I know that there are some myths out there that may be preventing you from signing up.

  1. What if my child decides NOT to go to college? What happens to the money? A child has 10 years from the projected enrollment year (for college) to use their Prepaid Plan. If they do not attend college, the plan can be transferred to another family member  or you can get a refund on what you paid in.
  2. What if we move out of the state of Florida? What happens to the money?? If a parent or child moves out of Florida, the child remains eligible for in-state tuition at a Florida College or State University when they use the plan.
  3. What if my child goes to college in a different state? While the plans are designed to be used in-state, the amount covered by the plan can also be applied at other schools nationwide. You’ll need to verify if the school is eligible with the school’s financial aid office. You can learn more about the Out-of-State schools and how the plans work here: Private/Out-of-State Schools  Remember, you can also transfer the funds to another family member.

So what are you waiting for?? Your child isn’t getting any younger and you’ll invest less each year if you start now. People always told me that the years will fly by and I didn’t believe them. Now I’m sitting here with an almost teenager and a seven year old wondering where my babies went! I blinked and they grew up!

Get started today before enrollment ends on Feb 29th (TOMORROW). For anyone who opens a new Florida Prepaid college plan using promotional code BLOG1516, Florida Prepaid will send you a free gift just for signing up.
