My daughter loves watching Stampy Cat on YouTube. He is her favorite Minecraft character and of course this is the theme she requested for her birthday party. The only problem is there aren’t any Stampy Cat birthday supplies. Thank goodness she has a crafty (and crazy) mom who likes a little DIY challenge to make this happen.
Our crafting began with Perler Beads (affiliate link) from our local Michael’s craft store. She’s played with them in school and at the library but I’ve never personally used them before. A big bucket of mixed colors is under $15 and we spent less than $20 for all the materials needed to make some Minecraft tools for the goodie bags.
To create the patterns for the tools we opened Minecraft and took some screenshots of the tools. From there I followed the pixel pattern to create diamond pickaxes, hoes, and swords. Using the Perler Beads was pretty simple and the entire family enjoyed adding the beads to the peg boards (affiliate link). Once a tool was finished you’ll need to place a piece of parchment paper over the top and fuse the pieces using an iron. It takes a little practice to learn what heat level and how much pressure to apply for a consistent finish. It only takes 15-30 seconds to fuse each other. Then you can flip the pieces over (off the board) and fuse the backside. The longest part of this is putting the tiny beads on the peg board. Tweezers are your friend for this project. In addition to the tools we also created a few of the Stampy Cat characters like Stampy, Ballistic Squid and Amy Lee.
You can download a template for a few of our favorites here….Minecraft & Stampy Cat Perler Bead Patterns.
I lucked up on the goodie bag items because the Pixel Pops (affiliate link) were on clearance at Michael’s after Christmas. They look very similar to Minecraft characters and my kids love to create with them. In addition to the Pixel Pops each bag had one of the Perler Bead tools or characters and some candy.
Our Party City has a great selection of individual candies in all different colors. We picked out candy to match some of the favorite objects the kids like to collect in Minecraft; like coal, iron, emeralds, and lapis. We added a handful of candy to each goodie bag.

Correction: Silver should be “Iron”
I’ve been dying to use my Silhouette Cameo (affiliate link) again, so I decided to make some Stampy Cat stickers to seal the goodie bags with. I found an image of Stampy Cat online and created my sticker design using the Silhouette Studio program. I added some text “Thank You” to each sticker.
This was my first time using the Silhouette Printable Sticker Paper (affiliate link) and it was pretty easy. There was a learning curve and I wasted my first sheet, but I consider that a success!! I designed the sticker in photoshop (you could also use PicMonkey or something similar) and then opened it directly in the Silhouette software. Once I had the images opened in Silhouette I replicated them and added a circle for the cut line. I quickly became familiar with the replicate window, align tab, and registration marks tabs/features and printed 11 stickers on each page. YouTube was my hero on this one because I’m still very new to Silhouette and not very fluent in how it works.
Once I had the stickers designed I had to do a test print on regular paper to see how they looked (and to figure out which side of the paper it prints on). The quality was exactly what I was looking for so I printed 2 sheets. The Silhouette program automatically prints registration marks so your Cameo will align and cut the stickers properly.
The cutting for me was the most challenging. It took me several tries to get the registration marks to align properly. Thankfully the Cameo won’t cut the project if the registration lines don’t match up right. Once I figured out where my cutting mat needed to load the cutting was quick and painless. I was very impressed with how nice and perfect the stickers looked at the end. I’m excited to try printing some stickers for my day planner next!!
Earlier in the week I created a special Stampy Cat t-shirt for my daughter to wear at her party. I also used my Cameo for this project with some heat transfer glitter vinyl (affiliate link).
I found a line drawing of Stampy that I liked in a Google search and used the “trace” feature in Silhouette Studios to create my pattern. I’ve done this once before for a different project and felt pretty confident that I could replicate it. The trace and cut feature takes me a while to perfect. I again leaned upon YouTube and some Silhouette experts to help teach me the basics. After several attempts I ended up with a design that I liked.
I used a gold glitter heat transfer vinyl and I think my blade is starting to dull already. It was very hard for me to find my cut lines to weed out the excess vinyl. Thankfully vinyl is very forgiving and my few errors aren’t noticeable on the finished project.
Once you have the excess vinyl removed, it’s really quick and easy to iron it onto your t-shirt.
The final piece of the party was the birthday cake. Our local Publix doesn’t make Minecraft themed cakes, so I ordered a plain cake and picked some colors that would work well with Minecraft. We asked for green grass frosting on the top and grey stone frosting on the side of the cake. When we picked up the cake the lady asked if we were doing a Minecraft theme, I guess it’s pretty common!
I have a very talented friend who enjoys working with fondant and knew she would be able to make me a cake topper that would be perfect. I told her the theme and let her have creative license with the topper. She made an adorable Stampy Cat and even a little cake (because Stampy LOVES cake).
My son had made some Perler Beads to spell out her name and we added those to the top of the cake also. Combined with the fondant Stampy Cat, the top of the cake was perfect!!
I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday party! The theme was so fun to work with and my daughter was so excited to see it all come together perfectly as the end.
Her friends joined her at Airheads Trampoline Arena in St Pete/Largo for a full day of bouncing and laughing. Airhead party packages start as low as $249 and include AirHeads grip socks, jump time, pizza, and drinks for the jumpers. They have a designated party room for each of the birthday guests and a private jumping court for the birthday guests. The party host helps with set up, checking in your guests, serving pizza and cake, and entertaining the guests as they jump. You can add goody bags and tokens to any party package to complete your party. Airheads has 3 location; Tampa, St. Pete, and Orlando.
Once the party was “officially” over and we had to abandon the party room, everyone was able to stay and jump as long as they like. Most of the kids stayed for about 1-2 hours after the party and kept on jumping while the parents enjoyed some stress free time with other adults. It was a great way to spend a rainy day in Tampa.
Need a gift idea for your little Stampy Cat pals? Stampy’s Lovely Book (affiliate link) just came out Jan 5th and is full of puzzles, games, secrets, and cake! It also serves as a quick summary of all things Stampy for mom & dad. I’ll be honest, I don’t usually watch the videos with her so I had no idea who all the characters were. My little one really wants me to submit all of her drawings and pictures from her birthday to the Love Garden, a gallery of user submitted artwork.
We really enjoyed answering the “Would You Rather?” questions in the book together as a family, talk about a funny dinner table talk!!
“Would you rather kiss a pig or a cow?”
Stampy says: “A cow!”
Bailey says: “A pig!”
No, I’m not super mom! The projects in this post were all created in 2-3 days, in the evenings, after work. I love to do crafts and create things so this is my outlet. Cost? The goodie bags and tshirts cost me less than $50 to create all 15 of them, and I have some materials left over for future projects.
If you like these projects, please feel free to share with your friends! Just remember to share the link back here for directions on how to create everything. Thanks in advance for sharing!!

I think that Bailey thinks you are a Super Mom and I kind of agree. 🙂 Such a cute idea and I love the cake! I am sure she was thrilled.
Oh my goodness, my kids play those Minecraft music videos all the time! They drive me nuts, but they LOVE them. So glad you were able to find some ideas for party. Hope it goes well, please share some more pics when you are done. I can’t wait to see how your party turned out.

Wow. The cake looks amazing. I admire you for giving so much effort to grant the request of your daughter. I think moms really know how to make everything amazing for their children. I am sure she had a great time!
