My 6 yr old thinks she’s a Vampire

Rewind to August at meet the teacher night….

Her teacher asked her what she liked and my daughter said, “Vampires!” It’s been over two months now and my six year old still tells her friends that she’s a vampire. She told me today that her teacher said, “Oh Bailey, my little Vampire,” and that one of her friends thinks she’s actually a vampire.

I purchased her Halloween costume on clearance late last year, a beautiful Princess Sophia costume.  Guess what she’s going to be for Halloween? A Vampire!! Anyone want to buy a Sophia costume?

This past weekend a friend asked us to go to a corn maze. My daughter replied that she’d only go if there was blood and Vampires in the corn maze.

How far do you let your child’s imagination go? Do you encourage their imagination or do you steer them to the more “appropriate” behaviors?? I’ve never been one for censoring my child, but should we encourage their dark minds?

I would be able to handle this better if she were older, after all I went through my “goth” stage when I liked Vampires myself. There’s a difference between an interest in Vampires at 6 and 16, right?  Is it normal for 6 yr old’s to have a fascination with the undead? Have you ever dealt with this? Please reassure me that your little one isn’t sucking blood now.
