It’s hard to believe that another year has almost ended and we’re about to welcome 2015 in just a few more days! It’s been a great year personally. My blog continues to thrive and has me looking forward to some changes in the coming year. I find myself blogging more and more about life, family, traveling, and hobbies rather than eco-friendly living. I hope you’ll stay with me and share our families journey through life and I promise to still bring you some green living related posts. It’s interesting to look back at the stats for the blog and see which posts were read most. Many of my older content (from 2010-current) still brings in many of you; but I wanted to share with you my top 10 posts from 2014! I left off the giveaway posts since those aren’t really worth re-reading.
My top post of 2014 is one I’m quite proud of. As I continue to educate and share tips on cloth diapering (even though we haven’t cloth diapered in several years), I felt it was important to share with you a list of 10 things you should NEVER ever do to your cloth diapers!!
One of the hardest posts to write this year was my post about why I won’t boycott SeaWorld. I stand behind my reasons and still continue to support the company as they plan for big changes in the coming years. I’m really looking forward to their new, larger and more natural facilities for their resident Orca’s.
I’m actually amazed that my shiny sink tips were shared so much on Pinterest! It was such a simple post and so easy to accomplish. Grab a little olive oil and give your stainless steel sink some shine and love!
One of the most fun projects I worked on this year was a community project with my best friends! Kim, Amanda, Emi, Julie, Maria, and myself brought you the Fluffin’ Awesome Baby Shower! As part of the baby shower I shared with you a tutorial for how to make a fun Dinosaur Cloth Diaper Cake. The tutorial was recently shared on SheKnows.com along with Kim’s Cloth Diaper Sushi Rolls
I didn’t blog about my cross stitching journey as much as I would have liked to but I did share a few tips for buying cross stitch supplies. I’m still working on my 2014 Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery Once Upon a Time Sampler and if you follow me on Instagram you’ll see where I’m at right now. I don’t think I”ll finish it by the end of the year; but it’s still going to be completed!
I had hoped to bring you more tips for visiting Busch Gardens with your family since I was an ambassador for them this year. However the program underwent several changes this year and we only went to the park one time this year. If you do visit the park, I suggest you invest in the All-Day Dining Plan. It’s well worth the money spent and you’ll leave stuffed!
Another fun cloth diaper related post was my post on the upcoming 2015 color trends in cloth diapers as related to the Pantone colors of the year. I honestly cannot wait to see some of the new diapers for the next year.
One thing I’ve learned this year is how to be even more tolerant of all the different parenting styles. I moderate a very large (almost 7,000 members) cloth diaper support group for work and I often have to moderate the “Mommy Wars!” I urge you to take a step back from your computer in 2015 when you are overly emotional about something you’ve read. Think before you type and remember that everyone is unique and everyone has a different way of parenting. It’s not a competition and we may not all agree with one another….and that’s OK!!
We’ve traveled a lot this year. We’re actually traveling right now in the North Carolina mountains and enjoying a little online break. One of my favorite trips of the year was our annual trip to Ichetucknee Springs and tubing with the family and our friends.
Finally, a very fun project I got to work on in 2014 was the Lennar Homes Mommy Certified program. My a few local Tampa bloggers were invited to share with you what makes a house a home. We were treated to a few special tours of the Lennar communities in the Tampa Bay area and hosted a barbeque (in the rain of course) to share our favorite features of their homes.
I hope you’ve had a wonderful year making memories with your own families and I’m so glad you’ve decided to follow along with our memories. If you have enjoyed what you’ve read here please consider voting for me in the Mamavation Top Green Living bloggers.
What would you like to see more of in 2015? More green living tips? More Tampa related things-to-do? Travel tips for families? More about cloth diapers? My families stories? I’d love to hear from you. Leave me a comment below and tell me what you’d like to read.
Until we meet again in 2015….have a great day!!
