As a blogger, one of the most exhilarating and inspiring things to do is attend a blogging conference. Over the past 5 years I’ve been to several including a few BlogHers, Blissdom, Mom 2.0, and Type-A. Each one is different but I always take away something special from these events.
Why should you attend a blogging conference?
If you are serious about treating your blog like a business, it’s a good idea to attend a conference. You’ll learn some very valuable lessons about how to turn your blog into a business AND get paid for it. Each conference has different areas of blogging that they focus on in their sessions.
This year at Type-A there are some pretty exciting sessions. I’m especially interested in 1) The Hybrid Life – Juggling Blogging and Marketing Careers, 2) Stop Being Scared of Video, 3) Freelance Writing, and 4) Instagram. There are 3 days full of sessions, keynotes, panels, and receptions.
Another reason to attend a blog conference is to connect with other bloggers and brands. I’ve actually made quite a few conference friends and it’s great to reconnect every year in real life. It really is an amazing community in which we all exist and share our ideas, passions, and dreams! I’m always learning something from other bloggers. For those bloggers looking to work with brands, conferences can be a great time to meet their representatives. I always find this part to be the most intimidating part of the conference because I never know what to say when I’m meeting a brand rep. “Hi, I’d love to work with you?” just doesn’t sound like the best way to start a conversation!! Maybe one day I’ll perfect this skill at a conference.
Finally, every parent (mom or dad) deserves a few days away from your kids. As much as I love my family, I find that I am a better mom when I come home from a conference. I’ve taken some much needed “me” time and I’m rejuvenated! I’m usually more organized and motivated when I come home, which benefits my entire family. Most conferences host some pretty elaborate receptions with great food, entertainment, and even a few cocktails.
Sounds fun, doesn’t it? Type-A Parent Conference is held each fall in Atlanta and tickets are still available. Mark your calendars for September 18-20th and meet me in Atlanta for Type-A Conference! You can use the discount code BLOGPARTNER (affiliate link) and save 25% off your ticket if you register in the next 24 hours.
Still not sure? Read my post from after Type-A Conference (—click there to read) and find out just how much fun we had last year. This year I’ve decided to step it up a notch and volunteer at the conference.
Disclosure: As a blog partner I am receiving a ticket to Type-A Parent Conference and will be volunteer on-site during the conference. Affiliate links are present in this post and I will earn a commission if you purchase a ticket using these links; so thanks in advance!!
