Great Cloth Diaper Change 2014

It’s official, there is a new world record for the “most people changing diapers in 24 hours (multiple venues)” with 8,459 participants.  There were 188 official locations in 18 countries this year.

We broke last years record by 158 people!!

The Great Cloth Diaper Change is an annual event hosted by the Real Diaper Association to help raise awareness of cloth diapers around the world.  This is the 4th year and each year we’ve continued to break the previous years’ record.  The event was the brainchild of Judy Aagard and her desire to celebrate Earth Day by hosting a cloth diaper family event for the customers and fans of Tiny Tots.  Other cloth diaper enthusiasts in the community were eager to join forces and the Great Cloth Diaper Change was born.

I’ve been involved each year on some level and so proud to see the growth each year.  My first year (2011) I was an official witness in Tampa, FL.  In 2012 I was a co-host and helped organize the Tampa event.  In 2013 I supported the efforts virtually by helping to spread the word online.  Finally this year I teamed up with Molly’s Suds, Kelly’s Closet, and Dirty Diaper Laundry to host our own event in Pinellas County, FL.  Our event had 31 babies and families join us at Heritage Village in Largo, FL to help break the record!  Here are just a few of my favorite pictures from the Pinellas County Great Cloth Diaper Change event…

Did you attend a Great Cloth Diaper Change in 2014?  I’d love to hear all about your local event in the comments.  If there wasn’t an event near you last year, consider hosting your own for 2015.  You only need 25 participants to count in the official record book and it really isn’t too difficult to organize.  You can find out more information on the Great Cloth Diaper Change website.
