Are you looking for the perfect gift for your wife, sister, co-worker, or best friend? Does she have kids? Does she chase those kids around for hours each day? Does she spend most of her day taking care of others while putting herself at the end of a very long list? Then I know exactly what will make her smile (and relax a bit) this holiday season…at least after the meals are cooked and messes cleaned up.
Give her the gift of wine and perhaps a few hours of adult time without the kids. The California Wine Club offers gift memberships starting at only $49.95. You can select the membership length you like – 1 mo, 2 mo, 3 mo, 6 mo, 9 mo or the entire year! With each shipment you’ll be sending her 2 bottles of award-winning California wines and Uncorked! magazine. All holiday orders will also receive 2 bonus gifts; a reusable 2 wine tote and a $25 credit for when they reorder their favorite wines. Shipping is also included at that price! What an awesome gift this would make to a co-worker, boss, mom, sister, best friend, or anyone who likes to relax over a glass of fine wine.
Bruce & Pam, the owners of the California Wine Club, were kind enough to send me a set of Seven Brothers wines from the Robledo Family Winery of Sonoma. The first bottle I tried was the 2008 “Seven Brothers” Lake County Sauvignon Blanc. In the Uncorked! magazine it suggests that this wine would be a nice compliment to ahi tuna, oysters, ceviche and light salads.
Since I didn’t read that part until after the bottle was gone I didn’t get to pair it properly. Instead I paired it with good friends, laughter and chocolate over a girls night out last week. A few of us got together after the kids went to bed for an art night. We dusted off our sketch books and enjoyed one another’s company – over a glass of wine!
The evening ended much too soon but we’ve already made plans for our next evening and it will involve another bottle of fine wine from the California Wine Club. As for our projects we didn’t really finish them but here is what I ended up with…
…not too bad for a first draft. My daughter (and Tink-fanatic) was pretty impressed and asked me to draw one for her room.
The next bottle is a red that I’ve never heard of before, Tempranillo. It says to pair it with grilled meats and vegetables or pizza. I guess I’ll be trying this one tomorrow night with dinner!
Do you like wine? Know someone who does? Be sure to check out the California Wine Club for your holiday gifts this year. You can also find out more about them by following them on Facebook and Twitter.

Getting a wine club membership from my husband has got to be the best gift I’ve ever gotten! Great recommendation.
