Have you joined the Switch “BOO” to NEW Challenge by THinc. Skin yet? THinc Skin (home of Balm Baby) is once again asking you to switch out 2 plastic items that you use for Halloween (Boo) for a more eco-friendly options.
Tips for making your Halloween more eco-friendly:
- Instead of the disposable trick-or-treat bags opt for a reusable container (preferably one that isn’t made of cheap plastic). My parents always gave us a pillow case to decorate for Halloween. Not only was it a little more eco-friendly it held a LOT more candy!
- Say no to cheap Halloween costumes. Many of the Halloween costumes that you find are so poorly made that they rip or tear after the first time your kids put them on. Be sure to check your local thrift stores for second hand costumes or get crafty and make your kids costumes.
- Ditch the disposable decorations. When shopping for decorations choose the ones that will last for years to come and not those “disposable” items that will end up in the trash after a few weeks. Last year I made a spooky Halloween wreath using some fabric scraps.
- UNJUNK your treats! Pick a healthier treat for your little ghosts and goblins like the new UNREAL candy (free of all the junk ingredients) or YumEarth organic treats.
By making the switch with THinc Skin you will help make the planet a little more ‘green’ this Halloween but you’ll also be entered to win some great prizes from THinc Skin and some of their sponsors. I could use the $50 gift certificate to THinc Skin to replenish my “Pits” natural deodorant and “Sun” natural sunscreen – my two favoritie THinc products!!
What 2 things do you plan on switching? What other ways can you “green” your Halloween this year?

Hi Calley! We make costumes only from items we already have at home. We repurpose old and unused items instead of going to the store. Why? Less carbon emissions (no trips to the store), less stress and much more creativity.
