Are you a blogger and need some business cards that will stand out from the rest? PR agencies and businesses get thousands (if you’re going to BlogHer ’12, 4,500+ attendees) of cards. How do you make your card stand out from the rest?
Being an eco-friendly “Green” blogger I’ve always struggled with business cards because they really waste a lot of natural resources and most people only need them for a short period of time. I have an entire box of business cards that I had made in 2010 with my sponsors names on the back. Kind of hard to reuse when it says “My 2010 Sponsors are…”
This year I will have a mixed batch of cards. I still have about 20-30 square blogger business cards left from 2011 that I will use up. I also have my 2010 cards that I will apply address labels over the 2010 sponsor information on the back. Finally I have a batch of upcycled cardboard blogger business cards that I made from some used cardboard boxes.
Directions: Cut cardboard to desired size (standard business cards are 3.5″ X 2″). Using a permanent marker write your business information on one or both sides. Ready to use!
What information should you put on your blogger business cards? It’s really up to you but I recommend your Name, Email Address, @Twitter Name, and web site URL.
Having an upcycled business card will also show the companies know that I am dedicated to the environment. They will also be very easy to recycle when people are done with them.

If you sell product, consider including your card with the product when it is delivered to your customer. Same goes for services. For example, if you are an auto mechanic, consider slipping your business card in your customers car visor, or create a sticker business card that will adhere to a discrete area of the customers car windsheild. If you provide regular on-site services, consider a business card magnet to be prominently placed on a refrigerator, or filing cabinet. Keep in mind, you dont need to actually sell product, or deliver service to ensure your business card gets and stays in the hands of others. Include your business card with every piece of correspondence: quotes, RFPs, letters, even photocopy your business card and include it in fax transmissions. When mailing out information, include it in the mailing by stapling your card (if possible) to the bottom or top corner of your letterhead.-
