I’ve decided that since my husband will be out of town tonight and it’s just me and the kids that we’re going to have a pizza and movie night – I’m calling it FRESCHETTA® Friday!

Tomorrow is jam packed with activities (Little League Baseball game followed by the Family Fun Fest at my son’s school) and I don’t want to spend all night cooking and cleaning so we’re going to enjoy a FRESCHETTA® Simply…Inspired™ pizza.  My son picked out the Hawaiian style pizza with Canadian bacon and bacon, mozzarella cheese, pineapple, and a bold, sweet and tangy BBQ sauce!  It sounds like a perfect ending to our crazy week!

We’ve never tried the Simply…Inspired™ pizza’s but I’m excited for more reasons than just the pizza.  The Simply…Inspired™ pizza is also Simply…Sustainable! Instead of the typical cardboard box with shrink wrapped pizza this treat comes packaged in a much trimmer and very thin plastic package.  (OK – I know it’s still plastic but hear me out!)  This new packaging reduces their overall packaging by 30% over the traditional packaging and will save:

• 1,378 tons of paper waste a year,
• 23,433 trees a year,
• 67,500 travel miles a year,
• and 472,500 gallons of fuel a year!

My motto is that every little change that a company chooses to take to conserve our resources is important.  By supporting companies who make these changes we as consumers are telling these companies what is most important to us.  There will always be an added environmental impact when we choose pre-packaged foods but as a busy mom it’s something I’m OK with on occasion!

All this talk of pizza in the morning is making me hungry!  I think I may sneak a Pizza By The Slice for lunch too, making it a true FRESCHETTA® FRIDAY!  What are your plans for today and tonight?  Do you have any fun Friday night family traditions in your house??
