It feels like so long ago that I began my cloth diapering journey and I am know considered quite an ‘expert’ in all things fluff. I have a good girlfriend who is currently expecting (in 2 weeks actually) and has come to me for advice. She’s totally new to cloth diapering but this will be her third child – so there is some fear of the unknown.
To read more about my recommendations for cloth diapering a newborn please hop on over to The Crafty Nest where Vanessa is hosting a whole week dedicated to cloth diapers! I was her guest blogger yesterday and wrote about how to find the perfect cloth diaper for your newborn.
Reading back over it now – the only other suggestion I would offer is pre-folds & covers. While they may seem pretty old-school to most and a little more challenging if you are new to cloth, most parents who use pre-folds consider them perfect for newborns. One benefit is that they are incredibly reasonable (ok they are cheap!!!) for the amount of time you will use the smaller size.
Enjoy the read and be sure to visit The Crafty Nest all week as Vanessa has some amazing features and giveaways all focused on cloth diapering.

Thank you so much for being such a fabulous guest blogger and for sharing your expert advice with us 🙂
Love your revision because I TOTALLY LOVED the orange-edge newborn-size prefolds and covers. We also had a bunch of fitteds, but they were so bulky. The prefolds were nice and trim on the tiny baby. And though they didn't absorb as much as the fitteds, they didn't need to – it's not like those little ones sleep through the night! 😛
I have to agree that prefolds and covers are awesome for newborns. I used them with my 4th son and loved them so much I'm still using them 9 months later!
