My Mother’s Day weekend was filled with Princesses, Super Hero’s and Super Moms…how about yours?
My sweet little princess has recently began playing dress up every chance she gets. She has a few tutus in her collection now and she finally likes to wear them around the house for no reason…other than to be the princess she knows she is. She loves to carry her purse around everywhere; stuffed full of her favorite toys. She has an infatuation with shoes; even though she doesn’t know how to put them on. She likes to have me fix her hair and put on her make up for her when I’m getting ready myself (don’t worry…it’s all pretend). It’s fabulous to see her imagination starting to work as she turns into this little toddler. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of her in her tutu outfit from Cutie Pa Tutu’s.
This was her in the full Pa Tutu Outfit.
And this is how she ends up wearing it around the house…gotta love the furry boots (in Florida)!
My son on the other hand has been embracing make believe play for years now. At 7 years old I think he’s mastered it! We save all our Halloween costumes and have even bought some on clearance after Halloween for him to play with. You never know who he will be next: Dark Vadar, Captain Rex, The Incredibles (he looked like Dash when he was younger), Clark Kent/Super Man, or a magician! Now that he’s older he saves his costumes for days when he’s really bored or when his friends are over. Today he decided to read a little while wearing his Cutie Pa Tutu’s Super Hero Cape – it’s reversible so it can be a super hero or a magician – today we chose Super Hero.
I wonder what story he was reading today?
Watching my children grow up I am constantly reminded of times in my own childhood. They do something that I KNOW I did; or they say something and I wonder if I said those same things to my mom. I was blessed to have my mom (and dad) here with us this past weekend for Mother’s Day. There was a video they showed at church that showed a mom and daughter around the house and the daughter said something to the effect of “Mom, I’m glad you still love me even when I thrown tantrums…and I’m glad that you don’t let me get away with them.” We turned to one another and laughed so hard we cried. The message for the video was thanking mom for all the things we do together and not carrying whether the house is in perfect order or not. That making memories doesn’t mean that everything has to be perfect. I struggle with this so hard…
…I didn’t grow up having a perfectly manicured home. I remember on Saturday mornings we would all spend time cleaning the house that we neglected during the week. As an adult I’m not sure why I want my house to ‘appear’ to be perfect? Afterall, if you know me…you also know my pet dust bunnies! Anyways…this Mother’s Day was special and I just had to share it with you. I don’t claim to be a Super Mom…but I think my own mom is one! Hopefully my kids will see me the same way one day.
And maybe if I’m lucky they’ll get me this NEW Super Mom (again by Cutie Pa Tutu’s) blinged out tee shirt so I can pretend to have super powers too! I hear they are making a Super Dad version too! You could have an entire Family of Super Heros (gee that sounds like a line from The Incredibles).
About Cutie Pa Tutu’s: Owner Amanda Dukes decided one year to make some Tutu’s since the family budget was tight. Now she is selling tutu’s and super hero capes (and accessories in over 52 retail locations in the US and over 7 international countries. Each tutu comes with coordinating pom poms stuffed nicely inside a layer of tulle and a matching ribbon bow. The tutu’s are available alone or with a matching top or onsie. They would be perfect for a birthday party or just as an addition to the dress up box. Her Super Hero Capes are reversible and embroidered with the initial of your little one’s name. Super Hero one day – magician another! Recently, Cutie Pa Tutus partnered with another mom-owned business, Kota Couture, to provide perfectly matched tops for her tutus. Once tutu mom & blinged mom joined forces, their combined super powers resulted in the creation of an adorable line of Pa Tutu Outfits, as well as the Super Mom & Super Dad tees. The newest addition to the Cutie Pa Tutu family is the Tee-Tu; a t-shirt with tulle sewn in the lower hem to form the tutu. I might have to add one of the Tee-Tu’s to my daughters Christmas wish list!
VOTE: You can vote for Cutie Pa Tutu’s at Start Up Nation as a leading Moms in Business competition. I think it’s amazing to see all the wonderful causes that Amanda has worked with including March of Dimes and the Layla Grace Foundation. Cutie Pa Tutu’s is deserving of my vote!

Disclosure: Amanda and Delicia were nice enough to send my kids the outfits you see above in a partnership to host a Twitter Party last month. I had to share how they have embraced their outfits with you because I care – not because I have to.
