eadc125Giveaway Alert!!  Win one Knicker Nappie OS Pocket Diaper and 2 microfiber inserts from Earth Angel Diaper Co.  (Thanks EADC!!!)
ECO-ngratulations….Megan R!

When I was pregnant with Lil’ B I did my research and found many different companies and brands of cloth diapers.  There was one local store that has since closed their store front (continue online only).  I had the pleasure of visiting the store on their last weekend in that location.  I was in awe over all the different cloth diapers that they had.  I was overwhelmed by the choices though.  I had it set in my head which brand I was going to go with and didn’t you know it…they were out of stock that day!  So I purchased a few other brands that looked nice and brought them home to show the hubby and convince him (and the rest of my family and friends) that cloth diapering was COOL!  That day I came home with one Happy Heiny and one Organic All in One (AIO) Bum Genius (BG).  Today I don’t use either one of those diapers and the majority of my stash is made up of Bum Genius 3.0 Pockets.  Why did I choose the BG 3.0?  Primarily because it was one size from birth to toddler but also because it was a well known brand.  Know that I’m a little more educated I realize the differences between the BGs and other brands and can appreciate those differences.  I have come to the conclusion that everyone likes a different diaper for a different reason and that what I love today may be different than what I love tomorrow!  Why?  Just like with sposies, cloth diapers fit and work differently.  Some work better at night, some work better for small babies, some work better for chunky babies!  I’ve also learned that velcro isn’t perfect.  While my stash is still sticking quite well I have heard that they do loose their effectiveness.  So what is the solution?

SNAPS!  One of the brands I was recently introduced to is Knicker Nappies.  Knicker Nappies is proudly made in the USA by a couple in Oregon.  It’s a great pleasure to promote a small work at home business like Knicker Nappies.  They have 2 microfiber inserts (also made in the USA) and lots of snaps.  Knicker Nappies are one size pocket diapers just like the BGs.  There are 3 sets of snaps that adjust the height (compared to 2 sets on the BGs) which offers a wider range of fits.  For the waist snaps there are 2 rows of 5 snaps that allow you to properly fit the waist and thighs.  Here is a picture of Lil’ B wearing her Knicker Nappie.
Lil' B in her Knickernappies OS Pocket Diaper

Lil' B in her Knickernappies OS Pocket Diaper

The fit was actually quite nice.  It was easy to adjust to make for a snug fit but I have to tell you that there is a learning curve with snaps.  Daddy tried this diaper without me giving him any directions and let’s just say the fit was not so snug…leaked all over the place!  Thankfully he’s patient with my experiments and laughed at the incident.

The absorbency was very similar to the BGs.  The only difference in the microfiber inserts is that the BGs have adjustable snaps on the insert itself while the Knicker Nappies do not.  But don’t be afraid of this, you will learn (if you haven’t already) that it’s super easy to fold inserts to make the perfect fit.  I used this diaper both during the day and at night and didn’t have a problem with leaking.  It even held in a massive pooh episode!

The elastic is a little more gentle than the BGs.  I was afraid that it might cause leakage but I haven’t found that to be the case.  Instead I’ve learned that the elastic is called Lastin which is guaranteed for 2 years not to loose it’s elasticity.  The guarantee is also good for the snaps!

What else can I say?  Knicker Nappies come in 6 awesome colors including a really nice chocolate color and sell for $18.95 at Earth Angels Diaper Co (EADC).  EADCis a cloth diaper online retailer based out of Brevard County, FL.  If you are local (too bad I’m on the other coast of FL) EADC offers FREE delivery within 15 miles and will also conduct hands on demonstrations.  I miss the free delivery from the store I bought mine at…now that they moved.  EADC sells a variety of cloth diapers and accessories.  If you are new to cloth diapering EADChas a great layaway plan and some amazing starter kits.  And don’t forget the gift registry!  The gift registry is actually how I got about 5 of my cloth diapers and I’m greatful for my friends for supporting my cloth diapering obsession!

Earlier I mentioned that I had 2 diapers that I don’t like or use.  What do you do with those diapers you’ve purchased but don’t use?  It seems like a waste to hold onto them right?  Well I gave mine to a friend who is experimenting with cloth diapering BUT Earth Angel Diaper Co. will buy your stash!  That’s right, EADC buys and sells used cloth diapers so you don’t have to feel like you’ve wasted your money.

BUY IT NOW!  Want to try a Knicker Nappie OS Pocket Diaper?  Use code RTN10 for 10% off your order plus take advantage of FREE Shipping on all orders over $50.00 at Earth Angel Diaper Co.  os-babyblue250

It took me a while to figure out how to leave a comment. I searched both your blog and earth angels diapers co.’s site trying to figure it out. So I am still a blog newbie I guess, up til now I have just read the blogs.

I like the celery knickerknappie. It seems as though it would be a fun color for a boy or girl. Not that I have one of each, but you never know.
