Poor Little B! Just after my last review of her cute little Bum Genius’ she got a HORRIBLE diaper rash! It’s been 2 weeks and it’s still not cleared up. So what was the problem??? To my best guess it was a combination of things. 1) sensitive baby skin, 2) not being able to use diaper cream, and 3) her ability to sleep for 6 hrs at night! The combination of all those things was just too much for her delicate newborn skin. It was the worst rash I’ve ever seen.
Fast forward 2 weeks to today and we’re still in disposables. I’m really bummed out about this. The only solution I can think of is to find/make some cloth liners to place between her and the cloth diapers. WHY? Because the makers of Bum Genius’ recommend NOT using diaper cream with the BG’s or it will void the warranty. I guess it won’t wash out well. I have some disposable liners but they are so rough and scratchy that I haven’t used them. I’m waiting until I can make a trip to the fabric department and see if I can find a soft fabric (fleece, bamboo, or cotton) that I can use to make some fabric liners with. That way I can use the diaper cream AND the BG’s.
And…for all of my readers who are recommending other brands of diapers Thank You. However, after our investment in the BG’s I’m determined to make them work. It was hard enough convincing hubby to invest in these…there is no way either of us want to TRY another brand. A co-worker of mine uses them on her older baby and they work wonderful with no problems. I’m sure a lot of the problems are due to her delicate skin which is temporary. 🙂

I have the same problem with my little Lily and trying to resolve it the best I can. Just so sad to see her little butt. Let me know what you find out because I have to use this hefty investment as well!
