Yesterday I decided to finally try the Bum Genius (3.0) cloth diapers on Little B. She’s almost 8 pounds and 6 weeks old. I have 8 diapers to start with so it will only be enough for part of a day. Yesterday I used 2 and today she’s in them again.
My thoughts?? She’s still a little too small for them honestly. They are so big on her that her onesies (NB size) don’t fit well…but she’s too small for the next size. I don’t mind using them around the house but it would look really funny under her clothes if we went out in public. I know…I sound so vain but I still want her to look cute! They actually work really well under dresses and the colors are awesome!
As far as how well they work I’m actually impressed so far. They are incredibly soft and I hope to see her little bum rash improve today (without cream). They are just as easy to put on as disposables. I did pre-stuff mine though so they would be quick and easy. I need to give Dad a lesson on using them and get his opinions too. He took one off yesterday and put her back in disposables for last night (like I said we still don’t have alot!). I took care of them once it was off so he didn’t get the full effect.
After taking them off I’ve been rinsing them and unstuffing them. The website says with breastfed babies it’s not necessary to do this but I really don’t want them to stain. I won’t be washing a load until tomorrow. I’m currently storing the rinsed Bums in a plastic bucket we have in the bathroom.
Final thoughts…I can tell I’m really going to like these as she gets bigger. For now I wish I had some smaller ones but I know she’d outgrow them within the next month or two and the expense is a little too much for that. More reviews after we wash the first load.
