I know, America Recycles Day was actually yesterday but this is the first chance I’ve had to post. Yesterday I was actually working by hosting an America Recycles Event for my job. This is an annual outreach event that we plan for our headquarters office location. This year we handed out corn key chains and corn pens made from corn plastic (corn starch)…I know…it’s a little CORNY! Actually that was the theme of the event, “It’s Not Corny to Recycle!”
So here are some cool sites to visit and read about America Recycles Day. The first one is the EPAs blog, ‘The Flow of the River‘ which is actuall pretty funny with a letter from the Party Committee Chairman at Dunder Mifflin (haha…I love watching ‘The Office’). I like the way the EPA added their own comments in red.

Here is a challenge for you. Starting today, find one new item to recycle at your house. If you don’t have a recycle program at all in place for your home check with your local City and County solid waste departments to see how and where you can recycle. My pledge is to find a location to recycle glass. Our local drop-off center doesn’t offer glass recycling but I believe there is another location that does. It might be a little farther but think off all those wine and beer bottles that we use that are just going to the landfill. I think that’s the best place for me to start this year. What’s your pledge?
