Blogiversary Giveaway #3 – EverydayJun Lunch Kit

September 16, 2009 By: Calley Pate36 Comments

Giveaway Alert!  As part of my Blogiversary Celebration this is the third giveaway of the day!  One winner will win a complete everdayjun Waste Free Lunch Kit!  Yes, I'm a lunchbox whore!  Between my son and I we now have 5 lunchboxes in our collection.  What can I say?  One is pretty, one is cute, and two are regular store bought boxes.  My favorite by far is our newest lunchbox by everdayjun!  It's really hard to find unique lunchboxes for little boys.  We are sick of the tv show and movie inspired ones.  everdayjun makes these awesome Waste Free Lunch Kits complete with messenger bag style lunchbox (or bag I guess I should say), an awesome sandwhich & snack cube, a reusable bottle, and a spork.  While all of the contents are plastic they are all BPA-free and lead-free plastics.  I absolutely love the sandwich & snack cube; you can put almost anything in here (unless it's a liquid...ick!).  The best part of the whole kit is the changeable front panel.  It's available ... It’s a bag, it’s a lunchbox, it’s an ECOLunchbag!

August 30, 2009 By: Calley Pate60 Comments

Giveaway Alert!  ECOLunchboxes is giving away one free ECOLunchbag with set of 3 cloth napkins to a lucky reader.  ECO-ngratulations to Nancy! I think I might have a lunchbox/bag addiction problem this year!  I found yet another awesome waste-free lunch system by ECOLunchboxes.  While I thought I was getting this one for my son, when it arrived I feel in love with it and I'm keeping it for myself.  The ECOLunchbag is made of 100% cotton from fabric that has been hand block printed by artisans in India.  I prefer my products be made in the US but ECOLunchboxes takes pride in their fabric and ensures that they are made in India in a NON-sweatshop environment.  The owner, Sandra, is very proud of her product and I now know why.  It's beautiful!  The print on the fabrics are very artfully done and the colors are so vivid.  This is a bag that I could see myself carrying around for more than just a lunch bag. I already mentioned that it was made of 100% cotton.  There is no plastic ... [ Read More ]

Litter Free Lunches Will Wipe Your Face

August 25, 2009 By: Calley Pate29 Comments

Giveaway Alert!  Litter Free Lunches is giving TWO lucky readers their very own set (of 5) of reusable cloth napkins.  (Valued at $19.99 each)  ECO-ngratulations to Tamara and Bonggamom!  You are winners! Who can tell me what material makes up the most of our trash each day?  PAPER!  One of the easiest ways to reduce our paper waste is by switching to reusable napkins, especially in our children's lunches.  It is estimated that if a family of 4 replaces paper napkins with cloth napkins that they can save over $70 a year AND reduce their paper waste by 40 pounds. Litter Free Lunch is a company that was founded by a pair of moms in Illinois.  The offer a full line of napkins, including their newest, an organic cotton set.  Each set of napkins is made in the USA.  They are made of 100% cotton (or organic cotton) and measure 12" X 12" in size.  Each individual napkin has a sewn-in label with space for you to write your child's name.  The napkins are machine washable.  In addition to ... Day 4: Red, White & GREEN

July 3, 2009 By: Calley Pate8 Comments

GIVEAWAY ALERT!  Be sure to read all the way to the bottom for the fourth contest and a great coupon code as part of The Eco-Summer Blog Party! CONGRATULATIONS STWILLIAMS07@XXXXXXX You are the winner of the To-Go Ware gift set! Happy 4th of July from The Eco Chic, To-Go Ware, and Green Planet Parties!  The 4th for many of us will be filled with backyard BBQ's, pool parties, and fireworks.  Along with all that fun comes tons of unnecessary waste.  When most of us host get-togethers at our homes (or anywhere) we typically run to the store and stock up on disposable tableware (plates, cups, cutlery, napkins, etc) for our guests.  Anyone want to venture to guess how long most of these items get used?  Less than 5 minutes...think about this today while you celebrate the 4th with your friends and family.  About a year ago I invested in some cheap reusable plastic plates and cups for a party we were hosting at the house.  We tend to host several of these parties each year and I ... Looking for Something GREEN?

June 21, 2008 By: Calley Pate2 Comments

Many of my regular readers know that I'm trying to ditch the disposable bottled drink habit.  This is actually pretty easy for me because all I've been drinking lately is tap water.  BUT...my friends and family are having a hard time ditching the bottle!  I mentioned not long ago that I recently purchased some plastic reusable bottles at the store which is a great place to start.  I was so excited when my parents actually showed up at my house with their own bottles!  They were one of my challenges in ditching the bottle because they love ready to go items; so Thanks Mom & Dad for taking the first step.  So if you've already made the first step and pledge to ditch the bottle there is another level of green for you.  Many of you have heard about BPA or Bisphenol A and their presense in our plastic bottles, baby bottles and food storage containers.  Many of you also know that I'm not 100% on board the BPA bandwagon yet BUT I am all for reducing our dependance on oil and oil is ... Win you very own WysiWipes

April 28, 2008 By: Calley Pate2 Comments

The great folks at WysiWipe just sent me some samples of their biodegradable, reusable wipes.  Theses little pellets (about the size of a Tum's) expand into full sized wipes when you add water to them.  As I read more about these wipes I learned they were all natural and have no chemicals or scents.  There is more; they are reusable and compostable!  So what can you use WysiWipes for?  ANYTHING!  I'm using them around the house wherever I would normally use paper towels.  I can't break my paper towel habit but with these WysiWipes it might just help me reduce how much I use paper towels.  The first place I've used them is in the kitchen sink in place of those nasty sponges and disposable clothes.  I should be using wash clothes but they get so stinky and nasty; I would always be washing them.  So WysiWipes are a good alternative for me!  When I'm done with them I can add them to my compost pile and not feel guilty!  Other uses of WysiWipes?  How about camping or traveling.  Or on ...
