Over the past year I’ve partnered with Florida Prepaid College Foundation’s to increase awareness about the importance of saving for college and the flexible options available through our Florida 529 Savings Plan. Our family signed up to Florida Prepaid a few years ago to help us save money for our children’s college years. We hope that this will allow our children to focus a little more on college and worry less about finding the money to pay for it.
Between May 1 and May 29th, families can enter to win a $529 scholarship to be added to their Florida 529 savings plan account. Florida Prepaid will be awarding 10 families with this amazing scholarship! To enter to win visit http://www.
It’s super easy to enter! Just go to the Florida Prepaid website and register using your name and email address. You can earn extra entries daily by visiting their website and answering some simple questions. You can earn even more entries by completing their weekly activities and for sharing the giveaway with your friends!! You do NOT have to have a Florida 529 Plan to enter (but you will need to open a Florida Savings Plan if they win).
For the first time ever, the Florida Prepaid College Board has removed the minimum contribution to open a Florida 529 Savings Plan, opening the door for more families to save for college. It’s never too early or too late to get started saving for college. We didn’t get started until our kids were a little older (my son was 10?? when we opened up their Florida 529 Savings plans), but we’ve started and that’s all that matters.
Considering my daughter wants to be a vet I think we’ll need ever bit of help we can get when she starts college! I’m still not sure what my son wants to do, today he’d probably say he wants to be a professional video gamer! Maybe I can encourage him to be a game developer instead?? Whatever they decide to do when they are older, I’m glad we’ll be able to help them achieve their goals!
Have you started saving for your children yet?

I know several plans go from state to state, so you can be from anywhere to apply, but hadn’t heard of scholarship ones, how neat! I love the fact that they don’t require you open an account to enter. I’m sure that will make a lot of people more interested.
