Why is it that mom is never in the Christmas pictures? Because she’s taking the pictures and behind the camera. I tried to remedy that this year after reading a fun article on how to be in the pictures you’re taking, but my camera doesn’t have the ability for taking interval pictures. Usually my husband attempts to take a few pictures of my opening gifts with his phone, but this year there are no pictures of me on Christmas Day. The picture above was one I took myself while I was playing with the manual settings on my DSLR; which I think I’ve finally figured out how to use.

I am excited for the future though, one of my Christmas presents from my hubs is a GoPro (affiliate link)
which can take interval pictures. I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet, but I finally picked up the microSD card today so I’ll be playing the rest of the week.

Christmas was low key this year. Hubs didn’t make it home until Christmas Eve (afternoon) and had to leave again around lunchtime on Christmas Day. It was long enough to preserve some of our family traditions. After he left, the kids and I surprised my parents by visiting them for the weekend (they are a few hours away). We don’t usually see them on Christmas Day so it was a nice surprise for all of us, and the kids really enjoyed having 2 Christmases.

Here are just a few of my favorite memories from the day.

Proof that he’s almost a teenager and that I’m still in denial.

The love my parents still have for each other after all these years.

It was nice to take a break from being online for several days. I enjoyed it so much that I wondered how peaceful my life would be without social media…..

….then I remembered that it’s also my job so that’s not going to happen any time soon. For now I’ll just enjoy the rest of this quiet week and eat some more cookie butter and lounge around in my comfy inappropriate reindeer joggers from Tipsy Elves. They sent both they hubs and I a pair for Christmas and I don’t want to take them off.

How was your Christmas? Are you still recovering from the madness? Back to work already?
