Why is it that I have no children in my house this morning (with Grandma/Grandpa), I didn’t go to sleep until after midnight, and I’m wide awake at 7am and online?
Yesterday was a huge day for me – it was my last day with my previous employer and I was on travel celebrating Earth Day. We always put on a large outdoor festival for our employees. This years event was much like previous years – cold, windy, and wet. It was a great day filled with mixed emotions. I was happy that I got to see everyone on my last day (I work remote from home) and celebrate one last Earth Day with the gang. It was kinda fun to see how excited everyone was for me and how interested people were to hear about my new venture. I guess cloth diaper advocacy can really happen anywhere at anytime.
That brings us to TODAY!!! Today is The Great Cloth Diaper Change!!! Where people across the globe join together to change our babies diapers all at the same time – and in cloth diapers no less! There are over 400 locations sign up with thousands of people expected to participate worldwide!
I’ll be attending a local event that is hosted by Tushie Ties – Tie on Cloth Diapers and Thank You-Mama. The Great Cloth Diaper Change Tampa Bay will be held in St. Pete and I’m honored to have been asked to be one of the Witnesses for the event. It actually worked out well because my parents took the kids to the beach for the weekend – and as a witness your child doesn’t count towards the World Record. I’ll be assisted by a local friend of mine Thee Baby Lady who will also be a witness. We’ll be responsible for ensuring that this location meets the requirements of the Guiness World Records (TM).
Several of my online friends are hosting or supporting events in their towns too.
- Kelly Wels will be hosting the Portland, ME event.
- Kim Webb (of Rockin’ Green Soap) will be hosting an event in TX.
- Julie with Rump-a-rooz is hosting an event in CO.
- Heather (of the Real Diaper Association) is supporting the event in San Diego, CA.
- And many, many more locations around the world will be celebrating as well.
The team at the Great Cloth Diaper Change recognized that not everyone can attend an event so they are also having a virtual event in the way of a Twitter Party!!! Here are the details:
* you are ALL online hosts
* use twitter hashtags #gcdc #clothdiapers
* online check in: http://bit.ly/…/gcdc11
Of course the online guests can’t be counted towards the Guiness World Record (TM) but your participation will still be recorded by the GCDC team.
Let’s get out there today and set a World Record in the name of cloth diaper advocacy! I know I’ll be there – will you?
