Day 10 – Wet Bags and Pail Liner Love! Today I love cloth diapers for the amazing new stash of wet bags and pail liners that have blessed The Eco House this week.
Shopping for wet bags is like shopping for a new purse. It’s even better than shopping for a diaper bag (which I still don’t have an official diaper bag – we use a collegiate themed tote) and you can (and will probably need) more than one. If your baby is in childcare or spends anytime away from the home you will need a few good wet bags.
Wet bags – usually available in an array of sizes and styles. Used to store wet or soiled cloth diapers either in the nursery, bathroom, or in your diaper bag. Great for day care and outings with your baby. Commonly closed with a zipper to keep the smell and moisture inside.
Pail liner – a larger version of the wet bag. A pail liner is usually made to fit inside a kitchen style trash can to store wet/soiled cloth diapers in the nursery. This is the cloth diapering mama’s version of the diaper genie! Commonly closed with a drawstring.
Both wet bags and pail liners are usually made with a water proof liner or from fabric coated with a water proof material. Most wet bags have two layers – the fabric outer layer (in many creative prints and patterns) and the water proof inner layer. Some wet bags (like the Bum Bag that I love by Bum Essentials) have drawstring closures – while most have zippered closures. In comparison, the pail liners are typically a PUL type material and made of only one layer. Pail liners are usually much larger in size.

- the Bum Bag by Bum Essentials – I don’t mind the drawstring closure one bit, but many parents prefer a zippered closure. I love that this bag is reversible and coordinates perfectly with the Bum Essentials line of diapers. The travel size is large enough to hold 7-10 (maybe more) cloth diapers. - the Kanga Care Wet Bags for Rumparooz– A medium sized wet bag (holds about 15 cloth diapers) that is small enough to hang (from the handle/hook) in your nursery. Available in coordinating colors in prints to match the fabulous Rumparooz cloth diapers. This wet bag has a 3-dimensional design (think half moon shape) versus the standard wet bags which are flat. Barrier seam technology ensures that the moisture remains inside the bag. This bag may be too large for a day trip but perfect for an overnight (or for a few days) trip. - the Kange Care Pail Liner for Rumparooz– This oversized pail liner will fit your standard kitchen trash can or diaper pail and has a drawstring closure. Again, this bag has a 2-dimensional design (54″ around) that allows it to ‘stand up’ when filled with diapers. If your baby stays at home with you during the day this is a perfect size for a nursery and will hold your entire stash (or at least what you use in 2-3 days). Also available in the fabulous Rumparooz colors and prints, barrier seam technology and TPU material. Would also work well if you have to wash your diapers outside of the home (coin laundry, shared facility, etc). Fabulous price for the size – $18.95.
- the Monkey Foot Designs Wet Bag (in large) – Available at Diapers Etc this WAHM wet bag is so, so stylish! The prints are just absolutely adorable. The large wet bag is similar to my medium Planet Wise that has a hole in it. This will be our new day care wet bag and our bag that we use for outings. It will hold about 10 diapers. Retail – $22 (a little more than the rest but very comparable to the Planet Wise and other stylish zippered bags).

I also love the BE Bum Bag! I have both sizes and use the small in my diaper bag, and large in my diaper pail. The Kanga Care bag and liner both look awesome though!
